Monday Movie Review: The Best Marvel Movies to Watch on Disney+

Switching things up a little this Movie Monday because *quarantine*. I’m assuming by now that every member of the population has subscribed to Disney+. If you didn’t pre-quarantine, you probably have by now. If not, just do it. You can thank me later. Now, not all of the MCU offerings are available on Disney+ but most of my faves are, and here’s the ones you should check out (and the order in which you should watch them):

Captain America: The First Avenger: This is a great one to start out with not only because it’s first chronologically, but in my opinion, it’s one of the best origin stories. Everyone loves Cap. Also Bucky in uniform. Yum.

Captain Marvel: Watch this one second, but skip the end credits scene.

Iron Man: Iron Man is not my favorite Avenger, but he’s pretty essential to the timeline, and this is the movie that really kicked off the MCU as we know it today, so I’ll give it its due.

Thor: Origin stories are important, and this one has Chris Hemsworth in it so it’s good.

The Avengers: The original Avengers is top notch. Plus, you need to see it in order to make some of these later movies really come together for you.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Even though there isn’t much interaction between the Guardians and the rest of the Avengers until much later, they’re important, and this movie is entertaining and funny.

Avengers: Age of Ultron: This one is probably my least favorite of the Avengers movies, but there’s important background info you need to know for later on down the line.

Ant-Man: Another origin story, with the bonus of it being hilarious and starring Paul Rudd.

Captain America: Civil War: Probably one of the best MCU movies in the canon, and that’s all you need to know.

Doctor Strange: Not my favorite character, but Doctor Strange is really important in the final chapters of this phase, so watch it.

Thor: Ragnarok: Probably my favorite MCU film ever, this one is just all kinds of fun, and CH at his hottest.

Black Panther: An important origin story, and an all around amazing film.

Avengers: Infinity War: (Disclaimer: This movie is not on Disney+ until June 25, 2020, but you can currently find it on Netflix.) The beginning of the end!

Avengers: Endgame: I mean, I freaking love this movie so hard.

Other MCU titles on Disney+: Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 2 and 3…These are all great and if you want to settle in and do the full chronological watch, please include them (not like we have anything better to do, right?).

Other MCU titles on Netflix: Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War…IW is a must watch, AMW is good if you have Netflix.

Other MCU films: Incredibly Hulk (skip it); Spider-Man: Homecoming (love it, but it’s not streaming so you have to buy or rent); Spider-Man: Far From Home (love it, available on Starz)

There’s really no better time than the present to settle in and immerse yourself in the MCU. If you want to go for the whole shebang, make sure you check out my checklist, which has all the TV shows and films in order. Happy watching!
