Monthly Recap: March 2020
Lol. Just the title of this post is enough. How the eff do we recap March 2020? Remember back on March 1st when I was a young sweet summer child? I was stressed about going on submission and worrying about getting a book deal. Two weeks later I’m worrying about not catching a deadly virus and how I’m going to pay my bills when the wedding industry has completely shut down and how I’m going to keep my five year old from going crazy while we’re stuck in the house for who knows how long. March, you’re a bitch! But let’s carry on as usual, shall we?
On the goals front: LOL. At the beginning of March I set goals! Given all the madness, I actually accomplished a fair amount of them, including blog post goals here and on CBWR. So that was good. One of my goals for March was self care (because I was concerned about the stress of being on sub). I don’t know that there’s enough self care in the planet to truly cover the last month, but hey, I made it through.
On the writing front: One of the ways I’m supposed to keep busy while being on sub is by working on my next manuscript, which did not happen for a long time for obvious reasons. But I’m happy to report, I’ve been diving back into the manuscript I started during the Pitch Wars wait, and it has actually been helping take my mind off things. The only bad news is I’m not working on a possible sequel to my on sub book because I just can’t get into it. But whatever. Writing is writing!
On the reading front: I read a bunch of books in March (though not as many as you might expect given quarantine, because hello five year old). I published quite a few reviews on CBWR and will have my monthly one sentence reviews up there shortly.
On the movie front: I saw Emma and Seberg before my theater locked down for quarantine. Emma was absolutely phenomenal. Seberg was interesting. Once stuck at home, I was happy to see Portrait of a Lady on Fire released on Hulu because I’d had plans to see it in the theater. I also am watching some so bad they’re good movies, including the masterpiece that is High Strung.
Look, I survived March. I think that’s all that matters. Hopefully you did too. Stay safe and stay home everyone!
