My Perfect Disneyland Day

Writing this post is probably going to make me depressed. I haven’t been to Disneyland in over three weeks, which is probably the longest I’ve gone in a couple of years. And it looks like it’s going to be several more weeks before the parks reopen, and I’m starting to feel the loss of my happy place. So today I’m going to make myself feel better/worse by dreaming up my absolute perfect Disneyland day.

I like to roll into the parks right around 10:00 am. It means I get to sleep in, and miss the morning traffic. Since it’s the perfect day, there will be no line to park, get through security, or enter the front gate. I’d also be able to get a Rise of the Resistance boarding group upon entering, with no issues whatsoever.

I’d secure my boarding group while waiting in the very short line to get a coffee. Because coffee. And they’d spell my name right on the cup because perfect day. I’d take a leisurely stroll down Main Street and swing by Jolly Holiday for a pastry. Again, there’d be no line. After snapping the perfect Instagram photo of my pastry and coffee (one that will earn me thousands of likes and a hundred new followers), I’d head over to the castle to watch the Disneyland Band.

By then it’d be time for my Rise of the Resistance boarding group to be called, so I’d enjoy a walk through Frontierland and make my way over to Galaxy’s Edge. After a kickass ride, I’d walk right into Oga’s Cantina, which would suddenly have plenty of seating and no drink or time minimums. Time for cocktail number one! Pleasantly buzzed, I’d hit up a few more rides. Pirates and Haunted Mansion and Astroblasters, on which I would score 999,999 and beat Matt.

Then it would be time to head to California Adventure. First stop would be to grab Fast Passes for Guardians and Soarin’, which because it’s a perfect day, would be California not World. There also would be no more Fast Pass limits. Again, perfect. I’d do a little shopping on Buena Vista Street while waiting for Fast Passes (which would be half hour, max). After Guardians and Soarin’, it’d be time for a pretzel and beer break at Sonoma Terrace.

Beer number two would be consumed while waiting in the very moderate twenty minute line for Toy Story. While over at Pixar Pier, I’d watch the newly reinstated Pixarmonic Orchestra (perfect perfect perfect). I’d grab another beer and head to Radiator Springs for the turning on of lights.

By then it would be time for dinner at Carthay Circle, which would magically have reservations and be affordable. Even though I’ve been drinking beer all day, my Carthay martinis won’t make me too drunk and I definitely won’t wake up hungover the next day. Dinner would wrap up just in time to walk outside and join the Paint the Nite preferred viewing area. Luckily, entertainment times are staggered just enough to leave me plenty of time after the parade to get back over to Disneyland for Fantasmic. After listening to my expert feedback, Fantasmic has reverted back to the old show.

Because time works differently on perfect days, I have plenty of time left after Fantasmic to head back to DCA and grab a drink at Lamplight Lounge, all while overlooking World of Color, which has magically found itself with an actual storyline.

On the way out, I grab some churro toffee, and maybe another Starbucks, before making my way to the Disneyland Hotel, where I have a room for the night despite living five minutes away from the park. Do I have time for a drink at Trader Sam’s? Always.

I wake up the next morning in the comfort of my hotel bed, pretty sure the whole previous day was just a magical dream.
