Monthly Recap: February 2020
Guys. February was a month of insanity. If you haven’t already heard, after a whirlwind Pitch Wars showcase and querying process, I signed with a literary agent at the very end of February. It was a three year journey to overnight success and I still can’t believe it actually happened. Bananas. So really, not much else matters for the month of February, but I’ll tell you about it anyway.
On the goals front: I literally had one goal for February and it was to survive the Pitch Wars madness. And I did! So mission accomplished.
On the writing front: Did I mention I signed with an agent? Did we get that yet? Have you accepted it? Because I’m still working on it! Here’s a brief rundown of how it all went: February 5th, my showcase entry went live on the Pitch Wars site and my mentors started collecting requests. February 11th, I sent materials to agents who requested, along with about fifteen others. February 12th, I received my first offer. February 27th, I signed. Wut.
On the reading front: I only read fourteen books in February, which is below average for me, but it’s also a short month, so I’ll allow it. If you want some quick recaps, here are my one sentence reviews.
On the movie front: I’ve been feeling a little meh about movies in general lately. Awards season is over and there hasn’t been as much out that I’m interested in. That being said, the few I’ve seen have been pretty stellar. Just Mercy was seriously robbed and deserved tons of awards recognition and didn’t get it. Birds of Prey was a huge shocker for me. You know I am ride or die Marvel, but I had a blast watching this movie. I would actually consider seeing it again. I really wanted to love The Photograph, and while I enjoyed it, something was missing for me. I’m hoping to get a few more movie viewings in this month if I can. I need some good stuff!
So overall, just a life changing month, NBD. February, not too shabby!
