Some of the Things You HAVE to Do at the Disneyland Resort
As we’ve been getting ready for our out of town friends to come hang with us at Disneyland later this week, I’ve been thinking about all the folks who only come to Disneyland every few years, or only every ten years, or maybe even only once in a lifetime. As a lifetime park-goer who now lives five minutes away, it’s hard for me to fathom, but the reality is, that’s most people’s Disneyland experience. So if you don’t make it to the parks once a week like I do, these are some of the things (I think) you HAVE to do while visiting the Disneyland Resort (not an exhaustive list, obvs.).
Take a character selfie. Pick a character, any character! They’re everywhere, and there’s a wide range. From Chewie in Galaxy’s Edge to Mickey on Main Street. Pick your fave and smile!

Watch the Disneyland Band. Am I biased? Of course. Will you regret taking fifteen minutes of your day to watch the band? Hell no!

Watch the sunset at California Adventure. I mean, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Visit the Millennium Falcon. You can say whatever you want about Galaxy’s Edge, everyone’s got an opinion, but you can’t pretend it’s not cool AF to see a life-sized Millennium Falcon.

Eat a sweet treat. There’s about eight thousand to choose from, so pick what sounds good to you and indulge!

Enjoy a Starbucks. I mean, I always enjoy my Starbucks, but it does taste a tiny bit better in one of the Disney cups. And there’s the added bonus of my name actually spelled right. Win!

Have a Mickey pretzel and a beer. I do this weekly, that’s how awesome it is (life-changing event celebration optional!).

Take a castle selfie. No matter what time of year, you can’t beat this gorgeous backdrop (kid’s not too shabby either).

See Fantasmic. To be clear, these are just the monkeys from Fantasmic, you should watch the whole show. I’ve been a fan for over 25 years and it’s still one of my favorite things about the park.

Spend time with your family and friends. Awwwwwww. Because that’s truly what the magic of Disneyland is all about!

Whether you make it to the parks once a decade or once a week, there’s magic to be had. What are some of the things you HAVE to do when you visit the Disneyland Resort?
