Monthly Recap: January 2020

Well, January felt like it was eight million years long. Most of my month was absolutely consumed with prepping my final draft for Pitch Wars, but the month still managed to drag on and on. I literally just typed the year managed to drag on and had to go back and fix it because despite the feeling, it was actually only 31 days. Peace out January and good riddance! Here’s how the longest month ever went down!

On the goals front: So my main goal was obviously to finish my manuscript and feel ready for Pitch Wars, which I did. I definitely could have done more edits (always), but I’m happy with where my final draft ended up. I also met my reading goal, my blogging goal here on Falon Loves Life, and my Instagram goal. I didn’t quite hit my blogging goal for Coffee Books Wine Repeat, but I got close, especially considering how busy I was. And I booked a wedding, yay me!

On the writing front: Honestly, I’m still living in a dream bubble as far as the whole Pitch Wars experience goes. I finished my manuscript, and though it was three really, really hard months of work, it was so so worth it and I am really proud of all that I’ve accomplished. It’s kind of hard to think about this being the first step of many, many more to come, but I’m feeling good about where things are going! Keep your fingers crossed!

On the reading front: I read fifteen books in January, which actually didn’t feel like that many considering how damn long the month was! But I met my reading goal, and I read some good ones. Keep your eye on CBWR for one sentence reviews, which should be up next week.

On the movie front: Lots of good movies in January, though they were mostly hold overs from the holiday season and end of awards eligibility rush. Parasite was phenomenal. 1917 was worth seeing in the theater for the cinematography alone. Spies in Disguise was definitely a Squirt pick, but it was cute. Like a Boss was fun and funny and a nice break from all the heavy drama.

I certainly can’t say January was a bad month, because really, so much good stuff came out of it, but it was long and I’m not sad to see it go. Bring on February!
