Ch-Ch-Ch-Churrrros: A Holiday Guide

I never thought I would ever have to write these words, but…I think there are too many specialty churros. Seriously. I thought I had tried all of them, then I went to check over my list and I’ve only had like half. We have to draw the line somewhere. Apparently for me, the line is half because I don’t know that I will get back to the parks again before blockouts for the holidays. Boo. Even with only half the list checked off, I still feed the need-nay, the duty-to report in on the ones I have tried.

This churro that looks exactly the same as a regular churro is actually the toffee churro from the Tomorrowland cart. I gotta say, it does taste a lot like a regular churro too. Also, every time we took a bite of this bad boy, toffee sugar went EVERYWHERE. So maybe it does taste different from a regular churro, we just lost all the toffee during the eating process (which is a problem with, you know, food).

The sugar cookie churro from Cozy Cone was another messy one. You might be wondering if this churro is just a regular churro with frosting on top, and if that was your thought, you’re right. However, let it be said now and forever more, frosting on a churro is goddamned delicious.

Okay, so this bad boy is the turtle churro from the Frontierland cart. I liked the idea of this one more than the actual churro itself. I’m just not a huge fan of the chocolate churro. Also, the chocolate sauce on top of this one should be caramel. The dipping sauces are just too much to manage. If I hadn’t had my sister there to take this photo, how could I have captured it for Instagram posterity?!?!?

The coconut and caramel churro from the Main Street cart was the first one I tried this season. It didn’t taste like coconut or caramel to me. Basically, it felt like spending an extra dollar for not a lot of extra flavor.

The Santa’s cookies and milk churro from the Fantasyland cart was tasty, I guess. But again, the churro tasted like a regular churro so if it weren’t for the sauce (photographed sans helper, boo) it would just be meh.

I actually really like the peppermint churro from the Redwood Creek cart, but it’s a returner from last year so I haven’t actually had one this season (since I was too busy trying to eat ALL THE OTHER CHURROS). But it’s good if you like peppermint (which I do).

Even with at least one churro per trip, I still have not tried: milk and cookies churro, horchata churro, pecan pie churro (popped up recently at the Grizzly Peak cart), Christmas tree churro, and sugarplum candy churro. I feel like I have let you down, readers, and I apologize for my total lack of churroness. If I do get to sample any more this season, I’ll share them on my Insta (@falonloveslife) so go follow me there.

Have you tried any of this year’s churros? What were your faves?
