Monthly Recap: November 2019

Wow guys. So November was just a life-changing month. NBD. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been one month since I was chosen for Pitch Wars and I still am in shock. But it actually happened. It’s happening. Right now I’m in the oh my god I don’t know if I can do this stage, but I’m still alive and breathing so I will take that as a win.

On the goals front: I never actually put “get selected for Pitch Wars” as a monthly goal because I had no real control over that, but it was obviously my most important goal of the month and it was achieved. I also met my reading goal, and my blog post count for Coffee Books Wine Repeat. Not so much here, but we’ll work on it!

On the writing front: Did I mention I was chosen for Pitch Wars?!?!?! I talked a little more about the process and the details behind it over at CBWR. Suffice to say, this is a major opportunity and I have A LOT of work ahead of me. But it’s okay! I can do this! I basically have not stopped writing and revising since my first talk with my mentors and I can’t imagine that will change any time soon.

On the reading front: Given my non-stop writing, my reading levels fell a bit. I finished fifteen books last month.I actually got a decent mix of romance and other stuff that’s not romance. I read: Dreaming of You, Save the Date, Faefever, Five Dark Fates, Love in a Bottle, Duke’s Stolen Bride, Can You Keep a Secret, A Daring Arrangement, American Fairytale, Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, Angel’s Blood, An Ale of Two Cities and Wine and Punishment, Get a Life Chloe Brown, Rogue by Any Other Name, and Lord of Scoundrels. Lots of good books, but the standout this month was definitely Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert.

On the movie front: It’s my favorite time of year for movie going, and I saw a bunch of great stuff. Queen and Slim is now my top pick for Best Picture. Honey Boy was so tough but brilliantly acted. Frozen 2 was beautiful. Knives Out was AMAZING. The Warrior Queen of Jhansi was great in concept, lacking in execution. Charlie’s Angels was a blast. Jojo Rabbit was perfection. Seven movies in November and most of them pretty stellar. Not too shabby!

In other news: Lots of great book related stuff is happening over at my new blog, Coffee Books Wine Repeat. I would love it if you would check it all out!
