Halloween Time Eats and Treats 2019

Halloween Time is back at the Disneyland Resort, which means only one thing: Time to eat. Like a lot. This year, Disney released these handy dandy foodie guides so you can check off the different items you try as you go. I really appreciate this as I have been making my own for the past few years and now I don’t have to! So thanks Disney! This year is bringing us lots of new goodies to try, plus some old standbys because it wouldn’t be Halloween without them. Let’s take a look back at some of those old favorites, and chat about what I’m most excited to try this year.

This is the only new this year item I’ve tried so far, the Bride churro from the cart near Haunted Mansion. The description calls this churro “elegantly dressed” which I would argue it’s not. It’s basically a regular churro covered in vanilla powdered sugar (so don’t eat this while wearing a black shirt) and it’s tasty. Not something I would go back for a second time, but it was good.

Everyone’s favorite Slow Burnin’ Mac and Cheese Cone has returned to the Cozy Cone. This is one I would eat again, but only on a solo trip since it’s a little spicy for the kiddo.

I love the Spoke-y Cone Macaron, but with how many other yummy sweets there are on the list, I don’t know that I’d go out of my way to get this one again. But it’s totally worth it if you haven’t had it before.

The Maleficent Churro (from the cart near the castle) is messy, but delicious. It’s kind of similar to another churro on my need to try list, but this is definitely a churro I would eat again. And I probably will.

Alright, so according to the Disney Parks Blog post breaking down all of the foodie choices, the Graveyard Cupcake from Jolly Holiday looks different this year, but has the same flavors, chocolate and cherry. I liked this cupcake, but it was super rich and it’s not something I would go out of my way to try again.

The Mummy Mickey Macaron, also from Jolly Holiday, is so damn cute, I can’t ever resist it. Also, it’s delicious, so there’s that.

Okay, y’all, the S’mores churro from the Redwook Creek trail cart in DCA is probably one of my favorite things I’ve eaten during Halloween Time. This one will be getting in my belly.

Available at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, the Anti-Vampire Chicken Pizza is full of tasty garlicness. I don’t tend to eat pizza at Disneyland, but this is one I would go back for.

And I’ll probably get this bad boy, the Caramel Apple Smoothie from Schmoozies, again too because it’s tasty and “fall” is hot AF in California.

So those are my thoughts on the standbys! Now, for the goods. This year I’m super excited to try some new stuff. I’ve marked a couple of items as high priority and I’m hoping to get to them all. At Disneyland, I’m going for: pumpkin layered cheesecake (Jolly Holiday), Halloween Minnie Mouse cake (Plaza Inn), black rose dessert (Red Rose Tavern), Delicium 639 pizza (Pizza Planet), loaded fleet fries (Galactic Grill), orange sugar skull pot de creme (Rancho del Zocalo), and the wedding cake (French Market). At DCA, I’m going to try: Minnie witch ice cream bar and spiked hard apple float (Clarabelle’s), Haul-o-ween churro (Cozy Cone), maple bacon bread pudding (Pacific Wharf), Oogie’s worms and dirt funnel cake (Award Wieners), Minnie witch shake (Schmoozies), and the spicy pepper jack cheese stick (Corn Dog Castle). Descriptions of all the food offerings this year can be found here, and make sure you stay tuned to my Insta for highlights from my gluttony! What are you most excited to try this year?
