Have a MARVELous Summer at California Adventure
With the upcoming opening of Pixar Pier, Marvel is taking a bit of a backseat this summer at DCA when it comes to the promotions and merch. But never fear, you can still totes get your fill of Marvel madness in the park, and there are so many ways to show your Marvel love! Follow along for all of the awesome ways to celebrate the MCU at California Adventure!
One of my favorite daily events is the Guardians of the Galaxy Dance Off. This show stars Star Lord and Gamora and happens throughout the day in front of Mission Breakout. It’s a super fun crowd-participation show with great tunes, great moves, and some funny one liners. The best part about this show is since it’s in an open area, you can roll up a couple of minutes before it starts and nab a spot in the front. I mean, this face is priceless…

Sporting your Marvel gear is a must. I try to wear my DIY Avengers ears when I know I am going to be around the Marvel characters, because they usually comment on them. They’re a good conversation starter.

There are tons of Marvel characters in DCA. You can do photo opps with Thor, Gamora, Captain America, Spider-Man, Groot, and Black Panther (check the daily schedule for times and locations).

And characters like Doctor Strange and Loki roam around Hollywood Land for perfect selfie opportunities. I’ve never been one of those people that has to meet characters, but these guys are fun because they will sit and have a conversation with you. When we met Gamora, she told me I needed to cross out Thanos’s face on my shirt. She also let us know Thor was running late because he was fixing his hair. So you know, fun interactions and interesting convos to have.

It wouldn’t be Disney without some tasty treats. There are some good themed drinks at the Hollywood Lounge, which is in the back corner of Hollywood Land. That is also where you can purchase I am Bread, which sadly is not as tasty as it is cute.

And of course, the best and most important piece of Marvel at DCA is Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout. I am seriously counting down the days until Squirt is old enough for this ride, because I love it, and I hardly ever get to ride it. But it is a must for any Marvel fan, and really any fan of super cool rides.

I was a little sad when they changed the overlay on this bad boy, but I love it now and it is a great addition to the park. And speaking of great additions, in just a few weeks, a bug’s land will be closing (yay!) to make room for even more Marvel goodness. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the future!
