Monthly Recap: May
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Matt is officially off work for the summer, and let me tell you, parenting a toddler is significantly easier with a partner who is home every day. Yay summer! I am looking forward to an awesome month of June where I get shit done. But first, let’s recap the madness of May!
On the goals front: So I actually accomplished most of my goals for the month of May, with the notable exceptions of not posting enough selfies (same as every other month it seems) and not writing enough blog posts (shocker). The only other goal I missed out on was giving blood, and it was because I literally had zero days where I was physically able to do so-either I was working, or Matt was and I was home with Squirt. But I have my appointment set for June! Things were pretty good on the writing and editing front this month, so that’s a win. I also made it a priority to seriously cut back on my plastic straw usage and I #nailedit. I used about ten plastic straws in the month of May, whereas I was previously using probably 60. If you are an iced coffee fiend like I am, time to start using reusable straws friends!

On the writing front: This month was mostly about editing for me, and I feel pretty good about where I am with my romance manuscript. I will still be making tweaks here and there, but it feels solid, and I am going to be sending out some more queries this month because you know what’s super fun? Rejection! I also started a new YA book that I’m supes stoked about, and I think I have a clear picture of where I am headed with romance #2. So all in all, not a terrible month for writing.
On the reading front: Another month of killing it! I read eleven books in the month of May. I read Yes Please, ACOFAS, Ex and the Single Girl, Children of Blood and Bone, How to Break a Boy, Emergency Contact, Finding Fraser, Leah on the Offbeat, War Storm, Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, and Voyager (which is like at least three books in itself). My highest rated books this month were How to Break a Boy, Amy and Roger, and Voyager. Over all though, it was a month of really good books, and I’m hoping to read just as many this month.
On the movie front: Kind of a slow month for movies, but I did attend the premiere of Book Club, which was way funnier than I thought it was going to be. I took my mom since she is a fan of many of the actresses in the film. I actually laughed out loud multiple times, so it was a good one to go to. I also saw Solo, which we are going to be discussing on the podcast, so check out Drink Talk Fangirl for all my thoughts on that one. And my favorite movie I saw in May was definitely Ibiza. Brianna and I went to a screening with a cast/crew Q and A before it was released on Netflix, and I’ve already watched it again, and written a whole blog post about it. If you haven’t watched it yet, get on that ASAP.

On the MCU front: Well, at this point, everything has wrapped up for this portion of my MCU challenge. Agents of SHIELD is over. The season was, as a whole, underwhelming. I still think Infinity War is the best MCU movie ever and I will be seeing it again this month. I might take another stab at some of the Netflix series if I get bored. I am going to give Cloak and Dagger a shot, but that’s about it.
On the yearly goals front: This month, I’m going to check off some boxes!
I don’t know about you, but I am ready to make June my bitch. Let’s. do. this.

I love that FP coffee sleeve! Also I know I’m behind the times but I finally started listening to your podcast 🙂 I really appreciated the shoutout to libraries in the one episode! And I’m a big audiobook fan too so I’m glad you guys had that discussion.
